Radiation Therapy at the University of Gondar Hospital –
What is radiation therapy?
Radiation therapy is the use of X-rays, gamma-rays, or other forms of radiation to treat cancer and other diseases. It is performed to mute the ability of cancer cells to reproduce by harming their DNA. Cobalt can be used singularly or in conjunction with other procedures, such as surgery and chemotherapy, to enhance patient responsiveness. It is usually not very uncomfortable and is generally done in several sessions, offering the healthy tissues time to heal.
