Radiation Therapy at St. Paul Millenium Hospital, Ethiopia.
What is Radiation Therapy?
Radiation therapy is a medical treatment that uses high-energy radiation to knock out cancer cells in the body. It is effective because the drug interferes with the genetic material inside cancer cells, successfully hindering them from multiplying. This therapy can either be External, where radiation beams are directed towards the tumour, or Internal, where radioactive substances are implanted near the tumour. It is often used in conjunction with other treatments, including surgery and Chemotherapy, to increase the Outlook of eradicating cancer and reduce the future likelihood of its return.
