Prof. Asfaw Atnafu

Prof. Asfaw Atnafu is a medical practitioner working as a body radiology specialist. He is a Professor of radiology at Addis Ababa University and a consultant body radiologist at Addis Hiwot General Hospital. As a consultant and an expert at evaluating diagnostic tests for life-threatening conditions related to the lungs, liver, stomach, spine, pelvis, kidneys, and colon. He has vast research and clinical experience in detecting and treating neglected tropical diseases in Ethiopia caused by parasites, bacteria, and viruses. His interventions have helped thousands of people struck by dengue, chikungunya, sleeping sickness, rabies, and scabies.  

Dr. Atnafu completed his masters in Health Informatics from Addis Ababa University. His sub-specialty training in body imaging was completed in 2013 after which he started working as a Professor of Radiology. Prof. Atnafu’s research on diagnosing cancers through imaging and the reliability of chest radiography has been published in the Ethiopian Medical Journal. He continues to work diligently to improve the diagnosing capabilities in Ethiopia and make accurate treatment accessible.
