Dr. Munir Awol
Dr. Munir Awol is a highly experienced and eminent oncologist in Addis Ababa. He is the Assistant Professor of Clinical Oncology at Addis Ababa University (AAU) and the current President of the Ethiopian Society of Hematology and Oncology. Additionally, he is the founder of Hope Clinic, Ethiopia’s first clinic to treat cancer. Dr. Awol has over two decades of experience as an oncologist. He is deeply knowledgeable about the intricacies of his field and has helped save the lives of thousands of Ethiopians from cancers of different kinds through early detection and examination.
Dr. Awol completed his medical degree from Addis Ababa University School of Medicine. He attained a subspecialization degree in Hematology and Oncology from the same university. He further completed a fellowship in Oncology from the University of the Witwatersrand. Post-education and training, Dr. Awol worked as a lecturer at AAU and soon progressed to the rank of the head of the Department of Oncology. In addition, he has authored multiple research papers, highlighting his knowledge of and insights into hematologic malignancies. His initiative to establish Hope Clinic and see it achieve prominence despite challenges is a testament to his commitment in enhancing accessibility for high-quality cancer care.
