Dr. Mahlet Tesfaye
Dr. Mahlet Tesfaye is a cardiothoracic surgeon and Assistant Professor at Jimma University. She is the only female member of the Ethiopian Medical Association. As an experienced surgeon, Dr. Tesfaye specializes in treating coronary artery disease, valve diseases, ventricular septal defects, and atrial fibrillation. Dr. Tesfaye dreamt of becoming a famous doctor as a child during her visits to hospitals where her mother worked as a nurse. Her enthusiasm only increased when she joined the medical school at Addis Ababa University and received the opportunity to look after patients during her fourth year.
She went on to complete her specialization in cardiothoracic surgery, earning her A015 qualification and achieving a special honor in the field. Beside serving as a surgeon and a member of major medical associations in Ethiopia, Dr. Tesfaye is involved in many research activities. She has written over five papers on rare and complex cardiac cases, highlighting her academic and practical knowledge. She has worked dedicatedly to serve heart patients and is not afraid to experiment with the latest and most innovative approaches in her field.
