Dr. Einar Erikson
Dr. Einar Erikson is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon associated with Myungsung Medical (MCM) College and Hospital in Addis Ababa. He is a highly skilled and experienced surgeon who leads the plastic surgery unit at MCM Hospital. In addition, Dr. Erikson is visits the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMC) to treat children suffering from severe burn injuries. He has done outstanding work in treating patients of burn injuries since the early 2000s.
Having earned his specialization degree in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery from Norway, Dr. Erikson established the first Burn Unit in Ethiopia, at Yekatit 12 Hospital. This was an outcome of a partnership between the Ministry of Health and Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway. After that, he set up the Children’s Burn & Wound Care Foundation (CBWCF) and, a few years afterward, the Burn Unit at Myungsung Christian Medical Center. Dr Erikson’s efforts have been remarkable in healing and helping burn victims in Ethiopia. He is considered a role model by numerous budding surgeons.
