He has completed a sub-specialised in Advanced Trauma and Arthroplasty orthopedics surgery. Dr Ephrema belongs to Dessi, Ethiopia. He earned a doctor of medicine degree from Hawassa University and was one of the first batch of students in the college. He did a 4-year specialty program of General orthopedic surgery and traumatology training at Black Lion Hospital, Addis Ababa University. Dr Ephrem got one sub-specialty training in advanced trauma related to pelvic and acetabulum surgeries and arthroplasty at Assiut University Hospitals, Assiut Governorate, Egypt. Dr. Ehrem is the founding member of the Orthopedics & Trauma Surgery Service at Hawassa University Referral Hospital. He has been serving in this hospital for 8 years and directly focusing on and operating trauma cases and, notably, complex pelvic and acetabulum cases and peri-articular hip fractures. His main area of interest is difficult fracture management and neglected musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr. Ephrem Gebrehana contributed to orthopedic science and trauma surgery and published several studies and collaborative publications.
